Hello,
I knew a lot of people in their 20's who had bad flareups. Whenever under stress, I would get a "lump" under the skin that if I was lucky, the doctor would inject with a cortisoid. I worked in skincare and cosmetics in the 80's and acne is caused by too much testosterone in a female brought on by processed foods that stimulate the production of the hormone. Maybe in males it's the same. Processed food - grains, etc. can trigger outbreaks. Also using too many drying products can stimulate the oil glands to compensate for the lack of moisture. Dr. Murad has great products (www.murad.com). Avoid too many facials, washings, rubbings, etc. Ask your skindoctor about Accutane. I used to recommend it to customers.
Be gentle with your skin. If you don't like your skin doctor, find another.
